Overview

The AB-4815/4831 is a compact, portable 8K camera system purpose-built for live production workflows, combining ultra-high-resolution imaging with the connectivity and control demanded by broadcast environments. Designed as an all-in-one solution, it delivers a native 8K baseband output, making it simple to use for live video production.　

Despite its small form factor, the AB-4815/4831 is engineered to perform like a full studio camera. When configured with a DF-3516/A viewfinder, operators gain precise framing, focus, and exposure control suitable for studio, OB, or large-venue productions. The addition of the RB-4816-2 remote control unit enables comprehensive camera shading and operational control from the control room, ensuring consistent colorimetry and seamless integration into multi-camera live productions.　

For long-distance, robust signal transport, the camera pairs with SMPTE fiber transmission units AT-8425 (camera-side) and AR-8426 (base-station side). This configuration supports reliable transmission of 8K video, return signals, intercom, tally, and power over a single hybrid fiber cable.

In this fully expanded configuration, the AB-4815/4831 transforms from a portable 8K camera into a complete studio-style camera system, delivering the flexibility of a compact unit with the performance, control, and reliability expected in high-end live production.

The AB-4831 supports up to 60p, and AB-4815 supports up to 120p.

Overview

With 8K, we can achieve 4 times the resolution quality of 4K and 16 times that of HD, allowing for the shooting of wide angle, high definition video.
When footage of live events such as sports matches, musicals, or traditional performing arts is shot with an 8K camera and transmitted to a remote location, remote audiences can experience the event as if they were actually there.

Connection Method

Overview

This SMPTE Fiber TX adaptor enables  AB-4815 and AB-4831 to be used as a standard studio camera.By connecting standard SMPTE fiber cable-based band video, audio (Microphone, AES/EBU) can be transmitted up to 2 km and return video, and camera remote control commands can be sent to a camera from the base station. 

Additionally, optical fiber supports critical functions like remote control signals for adjusting camera settings (zoom, focus, pan/tilt), genlock signals to synchronize multiple cameras, and tally / income signals for communications.

AT-4820/AR-4821 can be connected to AB-4815 and transmit 8K 120hz video up to 1km.

AT-8425/AR-8426 can be connected to AB-4831 and transmit 8K 60hz video up to 2km.

Overview

This camera remote controller is specifically designed to be fully compatible with ASTRODESIGN’s advanced 8K cameras, such as the AB-4815 and AB-4831 models. This controller provides users with the convenience of operating the camera remotely, allowing for efficient management of various camera functions without needing to be physically at the camera. One of the standout features is the ability to bring up the MENU screen directly from the remote control and display it on the HD OUT of the 8K camera. This allows users to navigate through the camera’s settings, adjust configurations, and make real-time changes to camera parameters from a distance, without interrupting the production flow.

In addition to offering menu navigation, the remote control enables basic operations of the 8K camera, such as adjusting zoom, focus, and camera angle. This level of remote accessibility is essential for live broadcasts, studio environments, or any situation where the camera is placed in difficult-to-reach locations. The intuitive design ensures that camera operators can maintain full control over the camera, even in complex setups. By incorporating these advanced remote features, the controller enhances the overall user experience, allowing for smoother, more efficient production workflows while maintaining the high standards of 8K resolution filming.

Features

Compatible with Lens Remote
The remote allows for precise adjustments to the iris, focus, and zoom using separate dials. The most frequently used iris dial is large and conveniently located for easy access. Compatible lenses include the Fujifilm ZK series and Canon CN7.

Adjust Gain, Shutter, CC Filter, and ND Filter
Parameters related to brightness, such as gain, shutter speed, and ND filter, are fully adjustable, giving the user control over exposure and light levels.

Adjust White, Black R-gain, and B-gain
The remote features independent dials for adjusting the white and black R-gain and B-gain, allowing for fine-tuning of the color balance to achieve the desired image quality.

Three Assignable Buttons and Four Scene Buttons
The remote includes three assignable buttons that correspond to buttons 1-3 on the 8K camera, enabling direct operation of assigned functions. Additionally, there are four scene buttons, which allow users to save and recall settings adjusted for different lighting or shooting environments, all directly from the remote control.
